ファイルーズは、利用可能なテクノロジーを用いて「絵画とは何か」の境界を拡張する画家である。彼女は制作において、油彩にカンヴァスという制約を一貫して自身に課しながら、同時に新たな可能性を探求している。デジタル上で手描きされた映像表現を伝統的な油彩と組み合わせることで、〈異邦人 (エイリアン）の視点〉から、人間の経験についての物語を描き出す。
コミックブック、映画ポスター、ビデオゲームなどを着想源とした彼女の作品は、彼女自身が直視することをためらうような問いを、ユーモアを用いて鑑賞者に提示する鏡として機能することを目指している。
現在は、絵画における中心的な主題、あるいは作品の中で異質な存在として現れるキャラクターの造形を手がかりに、「絵画」というメディウムにおいて人種化／類型化されてきた女性の身体を、ポストコロニアルな観点から研究している。彼女の関心は、それらを単なる人種的表象に還元するのではなく、固有の物語をもつ一個人として描き出すためには何が必要かを探ることにある。

I define myself as a painter who uses available technology to stretch the boundaries of what a painting can be. I explore new possibilities while enforcing a constraint on my practice: oil on canvas. By incorporating moving images, hand-painted digitally alongside traditional oils, I tell stories about the human experience from an alien perspective. My work takes inspiration from comic books, movie posters, and video games. My art seeks to act as a mirror to the audience, using humor to pose difficult questions—the kind I hesitate to ask myself. Besides this, currently I use the central subject or the form the alien character takes in my paintings as anchor to my research of the ethnic female body in the medium of painting in postcolonial terms and what would render them as an individual with a story rather than reduced to a race.
